While revealing the new logo for the movie, James Gunn gave the fans another surprise. The movie started with the name Superman: Legacy, but it has now been retitled as just SUPERMAN. James Gunn’s official statement on the Threads is stated below:

Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday (!) When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you in July 2025. Happy Birthday, Clark! UpUpAndAway

James Gunn also posted a photo with the cast last week after the table read in Atlanta.

Superman’s Costume First Look Teased

Before SUPERMAN started filming, the logo kind of already had made its way online during the table read by the cast members. The Hope or The House of El symbol shared officially seems to be based on Superman from Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. Although the symbol does not seem to be ultimately the same, the difference in colors is clear. The back color of the shield has been replaced by yellow, one of the classic colors adorned by Superman.

Based on the reveal by James Gunn, the photo of the costume indicates that the suit isn’t going to be spandex but quite similar to the one Henry Cavill was seen donning for the role. The S- symbol looks new. Also, we see more yeow on the outside of the shield, compared to the last live-action costumes we saw in the past.

Until we get a whole look at the new suit, the world can only speculate what it will look like.

The Cast Of Superman

With the story set to tell a fresh new and exciting tale of young, lighthearted DC comics Superman, James Gunn has found a near-perfect cast.

David Corenswet was officially cast as Suerman in June 2023. He is set to portray a young yet vibrant Superman who achieves a lot of heroic feats before his imminent death. Corenswet was previously seen in the hit political drama House of Cards

Rachel Broshanan will play the role of Lois Lane. She was cast alongside Corenswet to play the female lead and Superman’s love interest in the movie. You might have seen her as an aspiring stand-up comedian in the hit show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Skyler Gisondo will be playing Jimmy Olson, a long-time ally and friend of Superman. His recent performance was seen on Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet.

Nicolas Hoult will take the role of Lex Luthor, Superman’s arch nemesis. His previous negative roles in movies, like The Menu, surely promise that he will do justice to the supervillain character.

Sara Sampaio As Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela De Faría As Angela Spica, Nathan Fillion As Guy Gardner, A.K.A. Green Lantern, Isabela Merced As Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi As Michael Holt, A.K.A. Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan As Metamorpho are other prominent cast members that are going to be seen in the movie.

Conclusion

This big reveal has definitely raised the anticipation of Superman fans all over the world. Now that you know everything about the Superman Legacy title reveal and the DCU costume tease, it is time to wait for more official updates until we finally get to see it in theaters in 2025. Till then, keep following Viebly. We will be coming back with more official updates soon.
