Principal photography of the Swedish drama film, Evil began in early October 2002 and was wrapped up by the end of November 2002. The entire movie was filmed in and around Jakobsberg in Stockholm. The big and elite school that we see in the movie was in reality a boarding school named Solbacka. The author of the novel on which the movie is based went to this school. However, the school was closed back in 1973.

The building of Solbacka still exists but currently, it is a recreation center for golfers and golf enthusiasts. Only a handful of exterior shots were taken here. The majority of the exterior shots were taken near Görvälns Slott, a huge mansion in Jakobsberg.

The dining space in the movie where a number of scenes take place was actually built in a studio by the production team as a mock-up of the original boarding school’s dining hall. The pool scenes in the movie were filmed at a school named Gubbangsskolan which is situated just outside Jakobsberg in southern Stockholm.

Jakobsberg happens to be a suburban area within the Stockholm urban area. It is the seat of Jarfalla municipality which falls under Stockholm county. Irrespective of being a suburban area Jakobsberg offers everything that a town or a city has, including offices, shops, cafes, spacious apartments, parking lots, a modern library, art galleries, and a movie theater. Major attractions in Jakobsberg include a number of ancient monuments and buildings.

Jakobsberg has an estimated population of 24,046. The suburban area also has one of the busiest railway stations on the Stockholm commuter rail network. The Jakobsberg Grad, a 17th-century manor-house, which is quite famous, has been turned into a community center for hosting big events like corporate parties, lavish weddings, and business meetings.
