The story of Fool’s Gold is set in Australia and the Bahamas. The shooting of this film also took place on location. The makers of Fool’s Gold decided to shoot the majority of the sequences in and around Australia. Although, some parts of the film were later captured in the Bahamas as well.
After Andy and other creative heads of the unit selected the cast members, they began looking for perfect filming locations around Australia. The production members were tasked to scout around the beautiful Australian beaches and then select a few.
After several weeks, the production members submitted the list of potential filming locations to the makers. Andy, along with some other members of his team, then reviewed the shooting locations. However, the filming locations in the Bahamas were solely selected by the director.
The principal photography began in the first week of November 2006 and rolled till the end of May 2007. The filming schedule got stretched because of the mismanagement of the production members.
The filming crew didn’t acquire the shooting permission in time, plus a few other factors contributed to getting the shooting schedule delayed.
