Weaver initially asked the production members to scout for potential shooting locations across the Midwestern and South-central states of America. However, the director had to change the shooting locations, after finding out the production budget was not sufficient to sustain shooting in America.

So, in order to depict the sequences of Lucy’s traditional Belgian bakery shown in the movie, the production members used an actual bakery. The crew took permission from the owners of Tracycakes Bakery Cafe, located at 21594 48 Avenue, Langley, and filmed the interior sequences.

Other pivotal sequences of the movie were captured near the downtown area of Langley. The sequences depicting Dean’s news office in the movie were captured inside a commercial building, located near the business district of Langley. The production members had to turn around the vacant commercial space and make it look like a newsroom.

Additional outdoor sequences of the movie were captured on the outskirts of Langley. In fact, the ending scene of the film was shot near the sparsely populated area of Langley as well. The production members then wrapped the entire shooting process and returned to America.
