Audiences and critics adore Andrew’s quality of making simple things turn into something exquisite. This movie happened to be the second project in Andrew’s career. Before the director started working on this project, he made Every Breath which was released in the summer of 1994.
Even though the subject matter of that film was completely different from this project, Andrew made sure to use certain techniques which he previously used. In fact, the good and bad experiences which he gained while making Every Breath helped Andrew to make certain decisions at the right time.
So, when Fleming had to choose the filming locations for The Craft, he was able to make a clear decision without complicating the process too much. As the story of this movie was inspired by Peter Filardi’s best-selling book, Fleming somehow convinced the writer to join this project.
Later, Filardi and Fleming wrote the screenplay for this film and then started the auditioning process. After the talented actors were selected for their respective roles, the director and his team began looking for filming locations.
Since Andrew had already decided where he wanted to shoot, it only took a few weeks to arrive at the final decision. The production members and the director traveled to different areas in California and closely inspected the potential shooting sites.
Shortly after the director selected the final shooting locations in the same state, he asked the crew to acquire the shooting permit. The principal photography of The Craft began in the first week of May 1995 and continued until the second week of July of the same year.

Other important outdoor shots of The Craft were filmed near El Adobe Marketplace and Chateau Bradbury Estate. The scene where the female lead appears to be interacting with her new friends and later partying together was actually filmed inside Chateau Bradbury Estate.
This expensive property is located at 2232 California Avenue, Duarte, California. All the sequences of the party where the female lead experiences the supernatural for the first time were filmed inside this famous property in California.
Additional outdoor scenes of The Craft were filmed near Malibu and Long Beach. While the interior scenes were filmed in Culver City, inside Sony Pictures Studios.
