Writer-Director Rian Johson was in a bit of a dilemma while choosing the cast members for the sequel of Knives Out. Rian couldn’t decide whether he should move forward with returning actors, or bring new and popular actors on board for Glass Onion. Nevertheless, as soon as this matter was solved with the help of other production members, Johnson focused on selecting a perfect filming location for his movie.
Thus, after several meetings again, the makers arrived at the final conclusion to shoot Glass Onion on location. A couple of members were then sent to Greece and Serbia to review the filming locations, in person. Sometime after that, Johnson agreed to move forward and shoot the majority of the sequences in Greece, and the remaining scenes in parts of Serbia.
The principal photography for Glass Onion commenced in the last week of June 2021 and continued till the second week of September, of the same year. A couple of establishing scenes were filmed here, after which the production members moved to the beautiful island of Spetses.
The lush and affluent island of Spetses, which is included as one of the Saronic Islands, was used to capture the majority of the sequences. The director used this location to depict the playground of the tech billionaire shown in the film.

However, the final sequence of Glass Onion wasn’t filmed in Greece. After the majority of the outdoor scenes were filmed, the production members traveled overseas to Serbia.
The southeastern European country of Serbia was selected by the makers to shoot the climax and final scene of the movie. The production member arrived in the capital of Serbia, to shoot the sequence where detective Blanc finally gets hold of the con artist.
Several outdoor shots were taken in Belgrade, specifically near Beogradska Tvrdjava. A high-flying car chase sequence was also filmed here. After the entire filming process was completed the production members returned to California, and began working on post-production.
