The opening sequence of the movie was filmed in Burlington County, specifically around the Tabernacle township. This census-designated place in New Jersey was once considered to be the ideal place to depict a typical white American neighborhood.

However, after a lot of political turmoil inside the state and the country at large, it was observed that the population of Tabernacle rapidly declined. Plus, as the director wanted to capture a sort of deserted look for his film, he thought of shooting the opening scenes here.

So, at the beginning of the film, where we see the family home of Wen and his parents, this scene was actually filmed in Tabernacle, inside a small-sized home. Other important sequences showcasing the farmland in the movie were also captured around the same township of Burlington County.
