The story of Knock at the Cabin is set around a remote part of Pennsylvania. However, not all the sequences of this movie were filmed in and around the state of Pennsylvania. In fact, apart from a handful of sequences, the majority of the scenes were captured around different states of America.
Shyamalan thought of filming a number of scenes in and around the state of New Jersey, to take advantage of the diverse setting. Plus, skilled personnel, who previously worked in movie sets, were easily available there.

However, after a lot of political turmoil inside the state and the country at large, it was observed that the population of Tabernacle rapidly declined. Plus, as the director wanted to capture a sort of deserted look for his film, he thought of shooting the opening scenes here.
So, at the beginning of the film, where we see the family home of Wen and his parents, this scene was actually filmed in Tabernacle, inside a small-sized home. Other important sequences showcasing the farmland in the movie were also captured around the same township of Burlington County.

After the majority of the outdoor scenes were shot in and around Burlington County, New Jersey, the production members moved to Pennsylvania. Additional outdoor scenes depicting the backstory of Eric and Andrew were filmed around the city of Philadelphia.
Then finally the production members traveled to Cannon Beach to film the ending sequence of the movie. The scenes in the movie showcasing the giant tsunami were all filmed on Cannon Beach.
