Where Was Lucky Hank Filmed? Let’s Know This Comedy Series Closely!
The entire first season of Lucky Hank was filmed in Canada. That’s right friends, none of the episodes from the pilot season of this show were shot in America.
After the makers of Lucky Hank announced this show, sometime around the month of April last year, they began looking for filming locations. At first, the team scouted a number of places in and around America. Specifically around the southern states of Alabama and Tennessee.
However, when the filming crew couldn’t find any potential shooting locations around these states in America, the makers arranged a special meeting. Eventually, the creative heads decided to refrain from shooting any sequences in America, altogether.
This was mainly done to cut down the production budget and make use of the lucrative filming tax offered by the Canadian government. So, after the decision was made, a couple of members from the unit visited the province of British Columbia and selected potential shooting locations.
The principal photography commenced in the second week of September last year and continued till the month of December. During the course of filming in Canada, the production members faced a number of issues from time to time.
The bad weather and the frequent snow storms kept the crew from capturing outdoor sequences. This resulted in the original shooting schedule getting delayed, which increased the production budget.
However, as the filming crew acquired the shooting permission in time, they were able to capture the sequences when the weather was clear. Now, are you excited to know where was Lucky Hank filmed, then without further ado, let’s dive right in!
Vancouver, British Columbia | Canada
The opening sequence of the show, where we see Prof. Hank inside his office, was actually filmed in the city of Vancouver. The production members took special shooting permission from the administrative department of a local college.
The sequence where Hank appears to be in a special meeting with other professors of the underfunded college was then filmed inside this Canadian college. The production members then traveled to the outskirts of Vancouver, to capture the sequences depicting Hank’s home.
Although, before the filming crew could capture the interior sequences, they had to make minor changes to the overall look of Hank’s home. Special wooden cabinets were installed, to depict the small library which Hank built inside the basement of his home.
The production members traveled to other parts of Vancouver and captured some brilliant outdoor sequences. Additional sequences were also filmed around the downtown area of Vancouver, after which they moved to Burnaby.
Burnaby, British Columbia | Canada
The production members majorly captured the interior sequences of the show in Burnaby. Winston Studios, located at 7588 Winston St, Burnaby was primarily used to film the interior scenes.
Shooting in Burnaby only lasted for a month or so. The production members then finally wrapped the entire shooting process and returned to America.
