Where Was RRR Filmed? Let’s Know This Action Adventure Film Closely!
I think you’d be amazed to know that the shooting of RRR didn’t only take place in India. The makers of this film scouted through a number of potential filming locations in different countries. But before Rajamouli decided to shoot a number of sequences internationally, he first searched for ideal shooting sites in India.
As per reports, during the early stage of pre-production Rajamouli and other creative heads of the unit, wanted to shoot the entire film in India. But, when the production members couldn’t locate any desirable and appropriate filming location in India, they decided to travel overseas.
Although, a number of pivotal sequences were filmed inside Ramoji Film city, which is a well-equipped studio, located in Hyderabad. Other sequences of the movie were shot across different parts of Ukraine and the Netherlands.
The principal photography of RRR began way back in 2018. However, due to the onset of Covid-19, the shooting schedule got immensely delayed. The production members were able to complete shooting by the end of August 2021, after the majority of the countries lifted travel bans.

This beautiful city is an integral part of the Telangana state, and home of the Nizams. Hyderabad is also considered to be the technological capital of India, supporting a number of multinational IT companies.
So coming back to RRR the production members actually filmed the majority of the outdoor sequences in India, inside Ramoji film city, which is located on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Including the famous sequence of Bheem wrestling with a full-grown tiger.
Other than that no other major sequences were filmed in India. The production members then traveled overseas to the next filming location.
The sequences of the movie where we see the lead actors, traveling abroad to prepare for the uprise, were all filmed in Ukraine. The iconic dance sequence of the movie, featuring the award-winning “Naatu Naatu” song was filmed inside Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv.
The production members had to take special shooting permission from the authorities of the palace before filming this dance sequence for the movie. Additional scenes were later captured near Mezhyhirya Park, Kyiv.
Finally, the remaining interior sequences of the movie were shot inside Victoria Film Studios. The production members filmed a few other outdoor scenes of the movie, around Amsterdam, before the shooting process ended.
