The production members scouted a number of potential shooting sites around different cities in Texas. Brian later reviewed the list of scouted locations and arranged a special meeting with the creative heads of the unit.

The makers eventually decided to shoot the majority of the sequences around the city of Austin and Georgetown. While some pivotal sequences of the movie were also captured around the city of Elgin and Coupland, which are also an integral parts of Texas.

The principal photography began in the third week of April 1998 and continued for several months. The original filming schedule of the project was delayed, for a number of reasons. However, the production members gave their best to ensure the shooting was completed closer to the original filming date.

The opening sequence of the film, where we see the lead characters playing the game of American football, was actually filmed on the outskirts of Austin. The production members made an arrangement with the authorities of a local football club, and used the football team’s home ground, and filmed the sequences of the first match.

Only a handful of sequences were shot around the city of Austin. The production members then moved to other shooting locations and filmed the remaining portions of this exciting film.

Coupland, Elgin, Texas | USA

In order to capture the sequences depicting the family home of two pivotal characters, the production members used distinct houses located at a distance in Coupland. The house which was used to showcase Jonathan Moxon’s home was located at 380 North Broad St, Coupland.

Whereas the sequences featuring the family home of Lance Harbor in the movie were shot inside a medium-sized house located at 1002 West Magnolia Blvd in Coupland. Some additional sequences of the movie were filmed around the downtown area of Coupland, after which the production members moved to the final shooting location in Texas.

The ending scene of the movie was captured around the city of Elgin. The production members used special lighting equipment to film the outdoor scene at N. Main Street and West 2nd Street.

The entire filming process finally ended after several months of shooting, and the production members returned to California.
