The shooting of Cocaine Bear took place entirely in the Republic of Ireland. However, as the story of the film is set in Georgia, Elizabeth wanted to shoot this film on location.
But after the director wasn’t particularly satisfied with the overall look of the scouted filming locations in Georgia, she decided to explore more. Elizabeth Banks then asked the production members to look for other potential filming locations in America.
However, after getting disappointed for the second time, the director chucked the idea of filming the sequences in America, altogether. She then arranged a special meeting with other creative heads of the unit, to discuss other options with regard to filming.
After a lot of debate, the creative heads finally agreed to shoot all sequences of Cocaine Bear, in and around Ireland.
The principal photography commenced in the first week of August 2021 and continued for 6-8 weeks or so. During this time, the production members ran into minor predicaments from time to time.
However, the majority of the issues were resolved, with the help of experts. Shooting in Ireland continued till the end of October 2021. The production members then returned to America and started working on the promotion of the movie.

The opening sequence of the movie, where we are introduced to a number of characters in the movie, was all filmed around County Wicklow. This region is located in the eastern part of Ireland. To be more specific, this County is located at some distance from the southern region of Dublin.
Now, the sequences in the movie, where we see the characters getting together to enter the forest in Georgia, were all captured around this lush Eastern and Midland region of Ireland.
Thankfully, the production members were able to arrange the necessary logistics in time, as this place is sparsely populated. The small cottages where the character takes rest, before entering the Georgian forest, were shot in Avoca.
This small Irish town played a vital role in the film. The production members captured the majority of the sequences featuring the small town in the movie, Avoca. A few other important outdoor sequences were filmed in Powerscourt, Ireland.
The production members then moved to County Dublin. The sequences in the movie, where the cocaine-laced bear attacks different characters, were all captured on Barnaslingan. This picturesque hill is located in County Dublin and is famous for The Scalp viewpoint.
The remaining sequences of the movie were filmed inside a studio located in the downtown area of Dublin. All sequences featuring the “drug-infested” bear were morphed inside the studio, with the help of CGI and VFX.

As mentioned earlier, the basic premise of Cocaine Bear is centered around a grizzly bear, which attacks tourists, after ingesting a heavy dose of cocaine. At the very beginning of the movie, a bunch of tourists plans to visit the lush forest, located at a distance from a Georgian town.
As the story progresses further, the tourists end up in a place, which was primarily being used as a concealed drug route. Meanwhile, a wild grizzly bear, raids the hidden lair of the traffickers and ingests a whole bag of cocaine.
Soon enough, the grizzly starts feeling the narcotic effect and starts wreaking havoc.
