You always have the option to post a video that contains your message. But, in case you’re not comfortable doing that, you can simply record a video with a completely black backdrop but with the audio turned on. People who see the video will listen to whatever is playing in the background.

A lot of people have their audio muted on Instagram. So, you can add a sticker on the video that says “Sound On” or something like that. This will let people know that the video they are playing contains an audio message.

Once you’ve recorded a video as such, here’s what you can do to share it:

  • Open Instagram
  • Tap on the Plus icon located at the bottom of the screen.
  • Then, select the video from your camera roll.
  • When the video appears on the screen, tap on the arrow icon located at the top right corner of your screen.
  • Now, add a caption, a location, relevant hashtags, tag people if you want, etc.
  • Once you’re done, tap the arrow icon located at the top right of the screen.

And that’s it!

Just like Instagram posts, you can make Instagram stories that only have audio playing and no video. The background can be solid (black or any other color you prefer), and you can add a “Sound On” sticker to let the viewers know that there is something they need to listen to.

If this sounds like a plan, follow these steps:

  • Open Instagram.
  • Tap on the plus icon and slide over to the “Story” tab from there. Or, you can just swipe right from your home feed to open Camera.
  • Then, you can either upload a pre-made video by tapping on the small square gallery icon located in the bottom left corner of the screen. Or, you can record something on the spot with your camera lens covered (you can put your phone on a flat surface for this).
  • Once you’re done, tap on the Sticker icon located at the top right corner of the screen.
  • Tap on the ‘Sound On’ sticker to add it.
  • You can also write something to provide some context to the audio.
  • If you want your viewers to be able to understand the audio better, consider turning on captions.
  • Once all this is done, tap on “Your Story,” located at the bottom left of the screen.

And, done!
