Traveling is one of life’s most rewarding experiences. Many people dream of seeing the world and exploring new cultures, but few ever do. That’s especially true because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It has been a difficult three years for everyone, and many people have had to cancel their travel plans. But there is some good news: the world is slowly opening up again, and it’s time to start planning your next adventure!
Countries Where You Can Travel With No COVID-19 Restrictions
Thanks to increasing vaccination rates and decreasing COVID-19 cases, many countries welcome tourists and visitors again, requiring no COVID-19 test. Here are seven.
The Maldives dropped its COVID-19 test requirement on March 5, 2022. Hence, vaccinated tourists can now visit the beautiful island nation by completing and submitting an online health declaration within 48 hours of departure.
On the other hand, unvaccinated guests one-year-old and above are still required to show a negative COVID-19 test taken within four days before embarking on the first port to the Maldives. Check out the Maldives Immigration website for more information.
Be sure to visit the stunning beaches, enjoy the delicious food, and explore the culture! Also, get some travel advice from locals before you go out to explore.

As of February 20, 2022, all visiting Bahrain don’t need to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival. While tourists (vaccinated or unvaccinated) are now allowed to enter the country without submitting any upon-arrival or pre-travel tests, Americans require visas to enter.
What’s more, those wanting to visit Bahrain should download the mobile app called BeAware Bahrain in advance. The app will help you with contact tracing and provide information on the latest COVID-19 situation in the country. It’s available in English, Arabic, and Urdu. You can find it in the App Store or Google Play. Plus, expect health screenings at the airport.
Iceland has dropped all restrictions relating to COVID-19 as of February 25, 2022. It includes vaccination requirements and testing for travelers. Per the Icelandic minister of health, unvaccinated visitors are welcome to visit, as they’ve been since October of last year.
So, to those who dream of seeing the Northern Lights or taking a dip in the Blue Lagoon, start packing your bags—Iceland is now open to tourists! Just make sure to brush up on your Icelandic phrases before you go— locals are known to be rather cold to tourists who can’t speak the language.
This beautiful destination was the first country in the European Union to drop restrictions for visitors and locals alike to the mainland as of February 12, 2022. Norway lifted all registration mechanisms, quarantine, and COVID-19 testing that international tourists were previously required to take.
However, the upon-arrival and pre-arrival COVID-19 testing requirements remain in Svalbard, situated between the North Pole and mainland Norway.
While Mexico shortly added some restrictions in early 2022, the country is now deemed green, excluding Queretaro. Green means low risk for COVID-19 infections or contractions as per the government data.
Because of this, minimal restrictions are only implemented in specific states. Puerto Vallarta is one of the major tourist destinations in the country that’s currently imposing a COVID-19 pandemic restriction, where the wearing of masks remains mandatory.
But elsewhere in Mexico, international travelers can expect less pandemic restriction enforcement. Still, health screening procedures at airports and other ports of entry may be in place.
Fully vaccinated travelers can enter Belize without a negative COVID-19 test, effective March 1, 2022. Also, as per the Belize Tourism Board, all curfew and outdoor mask mandates are removed and dropped.
Unvaccinated tourists aged five and older must still show a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of arrival. What’s more, all international passengers are required to buy travel health insurance, book a hotel that the tourism organization approves, and complete an online form.
As of November last year, the government of El Salvador has lifted all vaccination and testing requirements for Americans to enter the country. Unlike the other countries on this list, El Salvador has been welcoming international travelers for quite some time, without quarantine requirements.
Additionally, local businesses stay open, and no curfew is implemented. Therefore, the only COVID-19 precautions you can expect are temperature checks upon arrival at ports of entry. That’s it.
You can explore El Salvador without any worries. Still, be sure to practice social distancing, use hand sanitizer, and wear a mask when in enclosed spaces. And as always, be respectful of the culture and people you’re visiting.
International travel is back. The borders are open, and the airlines are flying. That said, it’s time to revisit your travel plans and make sure you’re up-to-date on the current visa requirements. While there are some COVID-19 restrictions, many countries welcome visitors with open arms.
